The deletion concept of the FCS is based on the following
thought: A major precondition for efficient co-operation via Internet
is the reliable availability of information. It needs to be ensured
that references are maintained and function sustainably.
Our concept of the guarantee of existence, which is implemented in the
FCS, envisages that authors are provided with the possibility to make
reliable statements on the availability of information. Basically, it
is about indicating how long an information will be available under
this unique address in the metadata of the information. This
constitutes a commitment on the part of the publisher who guarantees
that he/she will not delete the published information until a certain
date has been reached.
