Permissions control who is able to read, edit and delete a fact.
Permissions are assigned while creating and editing content.
The following permissions are available on factline platforms:
General permissions for facts:
|
read |
Read-permitted groups can only read the fact, but they cannot edit, hide or delete it. |
|
modify |
Modify-permitted groups can read, edit, hide and delete the fact. |
A fact can only have two types of permissions: "read" and "modify". If a user has "modify" permissions for a fact, he/she can also read it - this means "modify" permissions include "read". So when assignning "modify" permissions to a fact, you do not have to put a check also on "read".
Additional permissions for folders:
|
work |
Work-permitted groups can add facts to the folder. However, they cannot modify the folder itself (i.e. change the folder title, edit the folder description). |
A folder can have three types of permisisons: "read", "work", "modify". "Read" and "modify" are analogous to fact permissions. If a user has "work" permissions for a folder, he also has "read". Therefore "modify" permissons include "read" and "work". When granting a higher permission level, you do not need to put a check on the lower one(s).
Additional permissions for forums:
|
create topic |
These groups are allowed to create new topics in the forum. |
|
post |
These groups are only allowed to post messages in a topic. |
