Groups

Permissions depend upon which groups you are a member of. Some facts may be invisible to you, others might be viewable but you don't have the permission to edit.

factline Community Server Groups function as an inclusive Group-System.

Therefore, if a fact gives read permission to two groups, it is enough to be a member of one of said groups
to be able to read this fact.

So, if fact X gives read-permissions to Group A and Group B, User F is able to read this fact in the
following three cases:

User F is a member of Group A

or

User F is a member of Group B

of

User F is a member of Group A AND Group B

Basically 3 groups have to be distinguished:

  1. System groups:
These are groups that are created as a standard by the system. No users have to be assigned to these groups by the p-admin, since the allocation takes place automatically.

universe All logged-in and non-logged-in persons.
    guests Non-logge-in persons.
users All users, who are registered on any factline-platform
Platform main group This group contains users who are registered on your platform. For this group the system will  assign the name of your platform; the indication could also be changed from the p-admin

  2. Self-defined groups:
These are groups which are built and overseen by the p-admin. For every platform it is possible to create any number of authoritiy groups. This happens by the p-admin. Each group is able to have any numbers of assigned users. Backwards, users are able to attend to any number of groups.

The fact creation process always ends with the choosing of permissions regarding your new fact. For more information, please read Assign permissions to groups.
